Turner Sultan, DW link style

Submitted by redstone underground
We got in our first DW link Turner Sultan today. For an XL frame, this thing is beautifully proportioned. They say that a picture is worth a thousand words, so I’ll let these do most of the talking.

Asymetrical stays with an elevated driveside mean no chainsuck.
Here’s a look at the [...]

Industry 9 bling

Submitted by redstone underground
Jason will be pumped on his new wheelset (that he’s waited patiently for…).
I9 light build - the front hub is adaptable for 15mm, 20mm, qr, or 9mm qr. Rear is 135 qr.

These puppies are green ano hubs laced to white DT4.1d rims using alternating green/silver spokes. Sweet!

No Child Left Behind Alley Cat Race

Submitted by Harvest The Ride

I can think of no better deal in bike racing, than a free bike race which ends at a bar, + dinner included (bratwurst and kraut), + prizes and a some hard rock on a key-tar(that band was bad-ass!)
The No Child Left Behind / Alley Cat /Party race involved a tour [...]

Paula’s APC (mine too)

Submitted by Diary of Scott Morris
I didn’t think it was a good idea. I had offered to ride with Paula for her first Antelope Peak Challenge. But she would have none of it. The more I tried to talk her into letting me ride with her, the more determined she became to ride it by [...]

Snowy Dirt Jump Funtime!

Submitted by redstone underground
Everybody is probably sitting at home, just chilling out, waiting for all of this unwanted (in my opinion) snow to leave us. Well here at the Sam Powers Compound, we ride in 10 degree weather. Here’s some documentation of this frigid fun.
Snow can be fun.

Although riding my bike and wearing my helmet, that [...]

Can you be seen?

Submitted by KRISTA PARK
Here is another cool product I ran across at Interbike: http://www.lightweights.org/ I took a sample of the Lightweights for Clothing to put on our helmets, shoes and jerseys to become more visible in low light conditions (we use 200-600L lights, but even that doesn’t seem to work for cross traffic like driveways, [...]

Sunday Snowy Sunday

Submitted by redstone underground
Doug, Sam, and I got out for a ride today. It was cold. We rode up Antelope into Hall, up and over and down thru the rock garden.

The rock garden of Hall Ranch is a treat on a day like today. There was just enough snow and frozen drizzle on the rocks [...]

Friday, Sweet Friday

Submitted by Diary of Scott Morris
Every Friday I meet Paula at her school and we pedal a couple miles out to Sweetwater. It’s a great way to unwind on a Friday afternoon, with ‘the week’ behind us. Though when you work for yourself the day of the week does become less meaningful.

Paula’s been stepping up [...]

Opinion on Robles Pass

Submitted by Diary of Scott Morris

I got a call today from Master Flint. He was bubbling in excitement over a drop they had just put in out at Robles Pass. I heard Tim in the background saying, “it’s only knee high.” That’s a knee higher than everything else out there. He wanted me to check [...]

We’re avoiding the bummer life here

Submitted by redstone underground
Most of you know that one reason of many for opening up Redstone Cyclery in ‘03 was my quest to avoid the bummer life. So far, so good. Part of avoiding the bummer life is striving to bring you, the bike folk that keep this thing afloat, cool stuff. Stuff you can [...]

History of LHC

Submitted by redstone underground
Thanks all for the ride last night. The wheel spoke, people listened. Since we’re on the topic of Left Hand Canyon, I thought I’d post up a brief history of the area. The following is an email that was sent in by a loyal blog reader.
“I read your critique of the new [...]

Tuesday Ride

Submitted by redstone underground
Hey ho, it’s of to Tuesday Ride we go. South Boulder, North Boulder, LHC? I think it’s time for the wheel of rides. Alright, here’s how it’s going to work for anyone that hasn’t seen it. We’ve made a wheel of fortune type of wheel that we’ll spin to dictate where we [...]

Heroes

Submitted by KRISTA PARK
Who are my cycling Heroes? Who inspires me?
Our 2008 Olympic athletes: Georgia, Mary, Todd, and Adam as well as other top pros. These are the people who have “made-it”. Now that I know what pro cycling is and how much effort it takes, I really look up to those who have made [...]

Taking the TMP Rock ‘n Road Challenge

Submitted by Diary of Scott Morris
1/14/09
It was pathetic. I couldn’t program my way out of a wet paper bag. Couldn’t code “hello world” world to save my life. That was yesterday.
I sat down at the computer this morning and tried to jump back into it, but I could sense I was still in that rut. [...]

Slow rolling in the rain, like a jockey full of Bourbon

Submitted by Harvest The Ride

The stoke was gone during the month of deluge. It seems like we’ve had close to a foot of rain in the last month or so. I’ve known that eventualy I would get fired up about riding again. I’m in no hurry. Lately its been more disc-golf than pedaling, but I [...]

Left Hand OHV night ride video goodness

Submitted by redstone underground
Don’t blame me. Cool Factor Keith suggested that LHOHV south facing up high stuff looked kinda dry so maybe we should ride there. Always up for adventure, the crew gave a good “aye, aye” and we were off. Well, long story short, there was a lot of snow. We still rode, though [...]

Tuesday Ride

Submitted by redstone underground
Well, so much for that S. Boulder idea. Heard they even got more snow than us. Perhaps we might spin the wheel tonight. Perhaps we’ll ride LGS because it’s the only thing going? 6pm we ride anyway.

Oak Flat

Submitted by Diary of Scott Morris

Finally made it out to Oak Flat, courtesy of Louis and CJ. It’s been on the rock mecca hit list for quite a while. It didn’t disappoint. The above video sums it up well, but here are the stills and a few words.
